Morgan & Morgan is one of the oldest public accounting firms in the Boston area. For over eight decades, the professionals at this firm have provided quality accounting, auditing, and tax services to individuals and a broad range of business clients.
The firm was founded in 1917 by Walter S. Morgan and R. Harrison Morgan. The founding partners were prominent businessmen and educators in the Boston community. In the early 1920's they founded the Morgan School of Accounting and Finance on Tremont Street in Boston, which they operated for ten years. Walter S. Morgan later served as the State Comptroller for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts under Governor Leverett Saltonstall.
Walter H. Morgan, the son of R. Harrison Morgan, began his career at Morgan & Morgan in 1946. A 1939 graduate of M.I.T., Mr. Morgan served in the U.S. Army for three years and worked in New York City and Connecticut prior to working for the firm. He was joined by his brother-in-law, Mr. Bernard Allen, in the late 1950's. Under their direction and leadership, Morgan & Morgan prospered into the 1980's.
The firm moved to Quincy in 1975 and remained there until relocating to its current location in Hingham in 1996.
Since the early 1980's, the firm has been under the guidance of Thomas J. McKinnon and Timothy D. MacLellan.
Morgan & Morgan has successfully completed the fifth peer review of its accounting and auditing practice, conducted by the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants. The firm received unqualified opinions on all reviews, which represents the highest level of quality assurance issued by the Society.
